For Baby Luke

Luke William Oland was born on Friday December 14, 2008. Luke's dad, Victor, is a pal of mine from university and a huge Toronto Maple Leafs' fan. There was only one way to send my congrats ....

It all started with these little socks that the Hubs found, they inspired the yarn which knit up this sweater and hat set. Isn't that always the way? The sweater is a simple top down raglan number and the matching toque is also known as The Umbilical Cord Hat.

Not bad for my first baby sweater, I say. And thanks to Zoë (and her mama) for letting me borrow her hat so that I could measure it and stumble through my own version of the pattern. Go Leafs Go!!

Go Ask Alice

Which Alice in Wonderland character are YOU?
created with QuizFarm.com
You scored as Alice

You are kind-hearted and curious and give yourself very good advice, but seldom follow it, which leads you into trouble. You always try to be courteous and polite, but you become cross when people speak in nonsense to you and scold them sharply.
I was surprised by the result. I really thought I'd end up getting the Cheshire Cat. What do I know! Thanks Yvette.

Happy Balentimes!

Wishing you all a hunka hunka burnin love!
  • It was on Valentine's Day 1954 that Colonel Parker first saw Elvis perform live on stage. Parker was immediately impressed by the reaction of the female audience in the crowd to Elvis wild stage act... and the rest, as they say, is history...

  • On this day in 1964 Valentine’s Day Elvis sent the Beatles a congratulatory telegram to their New York hotel suite for their up and coming tour of the USA.

Before Elvis, there was nothing.

Hat Happy

I've been really big on hats lately. I don't know whether it's the cold weather that makes me wanna keep everyone's heads cozy or if it's the awful carpal tunnel that the pregnancy has brought on -- I only wanna knit quickies!

Happy Hats*
From top to bottom:
Mami in Malabrigo - the pattern: Stella's Hat. Thanks to Michelle for showing me hers.

Kassidy in Kochoran - the pattern: off the top of my head (pun intended). I'm starting to dig cabling so I thought I'd give it a go, but I was running out of time for Kass' 13th b-day deadline so I had to bring it to a show that the hubs was having at Lee's Palace and ended up finishing it in stockinette. It's big and floppy enough to stuff in all of her curls and pompom gives it that little extra je ne sais quoi.

Me in Iro - the pattern, similar to Kass' hat except that I didn't have the rock n roll lighting to contend with so the cables go all the way to the top.

*(thanks to the hubs for this wonderful photoshop display)
