Papi's B-day and the Little Black Shrug
It's been a while since I posted an FO, and it's not for lack of knittin' -- that's fo sho! I just haven't had much "blogging time" these days. waa waa waaa...
So I bought a dress for my pa's 70th b-day surprise bash last week. The party was on Saturday, I bought the dress on Wednesday and by Thursday I had convinced myself that I could knit a shrug by party time to accompany the new party dress. uh...ya...right...
I've been spending a lot of time on this thing lately...
and although I had never seen anyone knit on it, there weren't any signs telling me that I couldn't. So I did. And even though I tried my darndest to finish it for Saturday, the knitting godesses just weren't on my side and neither was time! Luckily I had a little shrug that I had made...it all the way to Winners to buy a while back and it went nicely with my new party dress. It would just have to do. and it did....
Me and my pops party it up
The surprise party for my pa was a huge success. We really got him good! Surrounded by many friends and lots of family, Oscar Flores Sr. was roasted in style! We had a wonderful evening -- laughing and dancing and munching well into the wee hours. Dustin was leaving for Calgary with the cadets very early the next morning. So we decided to keep him company until 4am!
Party-ied out, I took a knit and cardio break the following day and picked up the needles and yarn again on Monday. By Tuesday the shrug was finished. By Thursday the ends were weaved in and the sleeves were stitched up. By Friday I was in the park with my gal pal, KO, camera in hand, ready for my close-up...

The pattern was extra simple. And the yarn, although super soft, is some cheap-cheap acrylic that I grabbed from my stash...
Regardless, it's a groovy little knit and a great test run for many more to come! Oh, and the cardio-knitting is going fabulously. Socks on the Cybex are my fave so far, but I can also envision some garter stitch shawls cardio-style as well. And as long as I stretch first and don't forget to breathe, I should be fine!

Fabulous Floribundas
Look what i came home to last night......
Sexy Rexy
These fabulous Floribunda Roses were all wrapped up and sitting pretty on my bed when i got home. I was feeling a bit down yesterday and had whined about it to the hubs. Knowing that I wouldn't be going straight home, he took the opportunity to drop off the flowers on his way to rehearsal, just to make me smile and to make me realize that life really ain't all that bad after all. I *heart* Jay!!!
